Solstice Sisters

Today is the summer solstice and I went to Times Square for their annual event of solstice yoga with Kelly and Nuni! It was so amazing to be able to focus on yoga poses in the middle of the most distracting place in New York! It was such a metaphor to life and so inspiring. We participated in this kundalini yoga class. As we opened our heart to the sun and shone our light on the sun... I looked up and back at this enormous building and bright blue sky and it made me feel like I was on top of the world and anything is possible. What an amazing feeling of openness and acceptance. We had such a great time and I am so excited to continue practicing yoga and accepting life just as it is... With an open heart and an open mind.

We are the solstice sisters! To the days being longer and full of life! To all of my sisters I love you so much.

Green Roof Professional

So I did it! I set my mind to something and I made it happen! It feels like such an amazing accomplishment and I am so proud of myself for sticking with it! I have never been happier and more complete in my entire life. I truly believe this is what I am supposed to be doing with my life and this is something I can be proud of becausel I am using my talent to make the world a better place! I am healing the Concrete jungle!

Father's Day Weekend

I had an amazing weekend and I wasn't even in beloved Brooklyn... I went home for the first time since I moved to New York City.  Friday the thirteenth was a full moon and torrential downpour! Needless to say my train was delayed but I eventually got home. I was glad not to be doing the commute every day!  Saturday I went for a hike in hartshorn woods with a dear friend and mentor... Diane! What a wonderful time we had in the woods sharing our stories and my incredible journey of my twenties and how I am living my dream and doing everything I set out to do. It was nice to show my gratitude to the one person who really listened to me and believed in me so much through this journey. I couldn't have done it without dear Diane!

Later that day Lena and I had a girls day relaxing by the pool  and filled with tasty and healthy treats, running some errands and homemade pedicures with honey-salts <3

We went to the Deutsch club in Clark NJ for their Father's Day German festival! What a great day of yummy food and PINOCHLE! Lena had to hand over her title of Miss Deutsch and Frank had his interview for their scholarship.  It was really nice to spend the day with my father and the whole family. Lena's senior quote will be "debatable" literally. We played 5-6 player pinocle and it was like a whole new game to everybody. I had an amazing time and I love that I was able to spend it with family.

Week one welcomes ya!

Finally I feel like I am in control of my life, at least for some things. I'm starting to get a hang of riding the waves and going with the flow... I had an amazing past week and weekend. I'm really enjoying every moment I have here and living each day as it were my last day here! What a great place to be with so many fun things to do and great people to be around. I'm doing so much I don't have the time to write about it!

What color is the good tree in your heart

Today is the first day I'm living and working in the place that I love the most... BROOKLYN! I met my boss in Harlem to measure up a new greenroof project were working on. It was pretty hot on the roof and we both wore yellow to work ironically. My boss encouraged me to try something new today...so I went Scootering for the first time along the busy uneven sidewalks of Brooklyn Heights! It is so much fun and you get quite the rush. I got home at a decent hour and convinced my new roommate to go for a run in Prospect Park despite the overcast sky. It's three blocks away!!! And it started to rain as soon as we got there. Through the entrance and along the path through the trees then past the dog pond <3 the rain was pretty heavy at this point and we went to where we thought there would be more shelter... Silly us, it was an arbor open to the elements. Luckily there was a bridge up ahead where we stopped and chatted with an older gentleman who kind of resembled the grandfather in Jurassic park but 100lbs lighter.

My roommate convinced me he knew where we were and where we're headed... He explained how we can tell where we need to go by where the sun was setting... But to our surprise there was a lake in the way of getting back home! It was a great adventure and definitely a great way to meet your roommates!

Maria and I became friends online and we talked about all the things that are on our bucket list and all the fun things to do in Brooklyn and we put them up on the chalkboard in the kitchen! I've been waiting for this my whole life:) I'm embracing every moment whole heartedly and with passion and enthusiasm and with an open heart.

Worth the wait

I never realized how much something could mean to you if you had given up and then gone back and fought for it. I really love being in Brooklyn and I will do whatever I have to do to be able to stay here. It's going to be an amazing summer and I'm in the perfect place to be able to find myself right here in the heart of Brooklyn! I fully Welcome this journey with my heart and soul. The diner is open 24/7 I'm 2 blocks from the park and there are free concerts all summer sketching meetups around the city and I have tons of tots to babysit for and countless friends already here... I have so much to look forward to! Its almost overwhelming there are so many things to do...It's going to be an amazing summer!  Thank The Lord for this incredible opportunity and the strength to take the jump. It's so liberating... I can't even express the feeling other than pure adrenaline for ones soul. Thank you to everyone who inspired me along the way who showed me encouragement or just having the slightest bit of faith in me! Here is to Brooklyn and living life that makes you fulfilled!
